1. AWARDS
PAGB Medals will be awarded for First, Second and Third place in all classes
for:
- First: PAGB Gold Medal.
- Second: PAGB Silver Medal.
- Third: PAGB Bronze Medal.
- Each Selector will have a personal choice for the
award of an SPS Selectors Medal.
- PAGB Ribbons and Certificates will be awarded at
the Selectors’ discretion.

An SPS label will be issued for each accepted print image and a certificate
detailing DPI acceptances.

2.1 PRESENTATION OF
TROPHIES
Trophies will be engraved with the winner’s names and presented at the
exhibition opening ceremony. The Trophies awarded to non Southport
Photographic Society members will be retained by the Society after
the opening ceremony.

3.3 SPS MEMBERS EXHIBITION
Please note that entry to these classes is restricted exclusively to Southport
Photographic Society members. Entries received from photographers who are not
paid up members of the Society will be ignored.
4.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
4.1 ENTRIES
- OPEN EXHIBITION
- Entries are accepted
from UK residents only.
- All accepted entries will be exhibited.
- You may enter up to FOUR images in each class in the Open Exhibition.
- Images must not have been accepted by the Society for a previous open
exhibition.
- For the purpose of these rules the Society reserves the right to
consider the image to be the same as one already used if, regardless of title or
medium, it is so similar to the other as to be almost identical.
- The original
image/images must be made by the entrant, who must own the copyright of all
elements used in the work.
- Except in the Nature Classes any process may be
used to produce the final image, but the finished work must not incorporate
images or elements produced by anyone else.
- Nature subjects must be free and
unconstrained within the environment in which they were photographed and any
digital work must not alter the truth of the photographic statement.
- The utmost care will be taken of all work, but the Society cannot accept
responsibility for loss or damage.
4.2 ENTRIES - SPS MEMBERS EXHIBITION.
- There is no entry fee.
- SPS members may enter up to 3 prints and 4 digital images, but no image may be
entered in more than one section.
- The following images are not eligible for this Members’ Exhibition:
a) Images
accepted in any section of a previous Open or Members’ Exhibition held by the
Society.
b) Images entered in any section of the concurrent Open Exhibition.
(Note ― Images accepted for a previous Members’ Exhibition may be entered in the
Open Exhibition)
- You must own the copyright of all images entered
4.3 PRINTS
- Prints must be mounted on card.
Maximum mount size is 50cm x 40cm and not less than 38cm on the longer side.
- The Name and Address of entrant, Class, Number and Title (as on the entry form)
must be marked clearly on the back of each mount.
- Any Print/mount received with Velcro or similar material thereon will not be
accepted. If the mounting damages another print, it will be rejected
- In the Monochrome Class, a black &
white image modified by the addition of a single tone over the entire image is
eligible. One modified by toning part of the image or adding a colour to part of
the image should be entered in the colour section.
4.4 DIGITAL PROJECTED IMAGES
(DPI)
- Class D is MONO, so images must be
monochrome, from film or digital originals and of any subject excluding Nature.
- Class E is OPEN COLOUR, so images may be from film or digital originals and
of any subject.
- Class F is Nature.
4.4.1 IMAGE SIZE
- Images will be projected in landscape
format, 1400 pixels wide x 1050 pixels high, including any borders. Free space
around the image may be filled with any colour, design or texture.
- Entries
should be in sRGB colour space and saved as jpg
- Any entries not complying with
the above may be automatically changed by our viewing software to comply with
these image specifications. If this is not possible the image it will be
rejected from the competition.
4.4.2 PREPARING YOUR ENTRY
- Entries may be
submitted online via the exhibition website or on CD. To enter via the website
please follow the instructions posted there.
4.4.3 ENTRIES ON A CD
- The
filenames used should be of the form "n title.jpg" where "n" is the image number
as appearing on the entry form "title" is the image name as entered on the entry
form.
- Create separate folders on the CD called "Mono", "Colour", and "Nature"
and put the corresponding images into them. • Burn the CD as a "Data CD" and
close it such that it may be read on any computer. Avoid options such as "write
session" or "write multisession" which may render the CD unreadable on computers
other than the one on which it was created.
- Several persons' entries may be submitted on one CD but please ensure that each
person's entry is
saved in a separate folder structure. Please see
Hints and Tips for details of the folder structure.
- Please note that failure to comply with these instructions could result in the
incorrect scores being fed back to you.
- See above ("IMAGE SIZE") for image
specifications.
4.4.4 IDENTIFICATION
- • Mark your CD with your name(s) and Postcode(s).
Use indelible marker or direct printing, NOT an adhesive label.
4.4.5 HELP

4.4.6 RETURN OF ENTRIES.
- CDs will not be returned
but will be destroyed by the end of April.
5. RESULTS CARDS and CATALOGUES.
- Results will be notified by e-mail, unless otherwise requested, when a card will
be mailed.
- Catalogues will be posted before the Exhibition opens.
6.
REPRODUCTION.
- Whilst copyright rests with the authors, the Society reserves
the right to use any entry, without fee, for publication and/or display in any
media related to the exhibition. This will include a CD/DVD of the accepted DPI
entries. The submission of an entry implies acceptance of the above conditions
The Southport Photographic Society will hold the personal
information provided by you to manage your entries and provide information to
you about future events.
The society does not pass this information to any third
parties. Please contact the Exhibition
Administrator if you do not want this
information retaining after the end of the competition.
This website uses
"session cookies" that do not contain any personal information and are deleted
after you have closed your browser. You can configure your browser not to accept
such cookies but doing so will result in areas of this website not functioning
correctly.
7.1 PRIVACY STATEMENT
The Southport Photographic Society will hold
the personal information provided by you during the registration process. This
information will be used by the Society and its authorised Agents to;
- Administer the website;
- Manage your entries and provide information to you
about future events;
- Enable your use of the services available on the
website;
7.2 Paypal
All our website financial transactions are handled through
our payment services provider, Paypal. You should only provide your personal
information to Paypal after reviewing the Paypal privacy policy (available at
www.paypal.com).
We will share information with Paypal only to the extent
necessary for the purposes of processing payments you make via our website.
7.3
Disclosure
We may disclose information about you to agents insofar as reasonably
necessary for the purposes as set out in this privacy policy.
In addition, we
may disclose information about you:
- To the extent that we are required to do
so by law;
- In connection with any legal proceedings or prospective legal
proceedings;
- In order to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights
(including providing information to others for the purposes of fraud prevention
and reducing credit risk);
Except as provided in this privacy policy, we will
not provide your information to third parties.
8. SUBMISSION AND RETURN OF
ENTRIES
PLEASE make any enquiries about the Exhibition direct to the

8.1 ENTRIES & FORMS.
- Where the entry is not made on line, send the paper forms, CD’s and Prints
boxes to the address below.
- Multiple entrants – list the entrants on the print box and clip forms
together in sequence.

8.3 ENTRY FEES:
- £7 for ONE class, plus £4 for each ADDITIONAL Class. Please
include return postage for prints.
- Cheques to be made payable to “SPS
EXHIBITION”.
8.4 POSTAGE.
Please fill in the postage labels provided on the
website.
PRINT ENTRIES will not be returned by post unless sufficient postage is
provided.
There is no postage charge for Results Cards, Catalogues, or the
transfer of prints from and to the Lytham or Smethwick P.S. addresses.
8.5 DVD’s
DVD of accepted Digital Images may be purchased at £6.00 each including P&P

8.7. ALTERNATIVE COLLECTION AND
RETURN ARRANGEMENTS
To take advantage of these alternative arrangements send
your entry forms and fees direct to Southport to arrive no later than 14th
January 2010 and have your entry at the collection point by that date.
We will
COLLECT entries from Smethwick, including entries forwarded from Bromsgrove.
By
prior arrangement, entries may be delivered to and returned entries collected
