The Dep. Mayor last year promoted a photo comp for Sefton and member Alex Anderson was the winner. The prize was a chance to photograph the incoming Mayor during the ceremony in May/June.

Three SPS Members received awards at the 2009 L&CPU Exhibition opening
with Pat Hey being added to the L&CPU Roll of Honour for her many years of hard work
given to the SPS Annual Exhibition. Below is a report - (nicked from the L&CPU website!)

"At the Delegates Meeting on Saturday 18th July we were delighted to elect Pat Hey of Southport PS to the Roll of Honour.

As a prominent member of Southport PS, Pat Hey has been active for many years in Southport PS affairs and on the committee. She has had a very long association with the Southport Open Exhibition, for which she has always worked very hard in the background. Pat and Vin received the entries to their home for many years and had a lot to do with cataloguing the entries and the hanging of the exhibition . When Keith and Margaret Suddaby left Southport for the nether regions of Northumbria, Pat and Vin Hey took over responsibility for the Southport Open. Although the Southport Open now has a new chairman, Pat is still very involved at every level of this and club activities.

The Roll of Honour was started at the L&CPU 75th Anniversary to celebrate people who have done outstanding work for the Union and club photography in our region. It is awarded to very few people each year which makes it a very special award.

Thank you Pat."

Saturday October 25 2008 saw Jim Wright and his wife Wendy celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary.

On Monday October 20 2008, after 15 years of asking, Mike Pollitt ARPS finally gave a presentation to SPS.
Mike was asked not to wait another 15 years before giving another talk. Mmmmmmm!!

of 15 Nature Prints

In the '2008 Disabled Photographers Exhibition' Mike Pollitt ARPS has won the Advanced Colour Section Prints
with 'David Wier, Gold Medalist' (below), this was also awarded 'Best Print' in the Exhibition.
Mike also had a 2nd, 2x 3rd's and 8 others accepted in the Exhibition held in Bath.

Congratulations go to Norma Bellini LDPS who has been awarded the
Licenciateship of the Disabled Photographers Society. Norma has also passed
her Photography 'A' Level with a 100% pass mark. Norma's husband, Mike has also
passed his 'A' Level Photography exams along with Robert Yelland who passed his
GCSE Photography exam with flying colours.

Norma has recently gained her LRPS as well

 

In the 2007 Disabled Photographers Exhibition, Mike Pollitt ARPS was awarded
2, second places and three highly commended certificates in the print sections

At Solihull's Open Exhibition Opening at Smethwick, our President won the Selector's Medal judged
by the very distinguished Vic Attfield, being presented by the President of Solihull PS, Mike Chapman.
Keith also won a PAGB Ribbon
